JOHNSON’S®️ #ChooseGentle Parenting Movement

We need to help build a better world where every child can thrive. JOHNSON’S®️ believes that we can achieve this through the immense, transformative power of gentle — something that can begin at home.

This is what was stated on the invitation of Johnson’s Baby to the momfluencers and mombassadors at the event.

After the launch on their gentlest formula of products yet last May, their advocacy for parents to #ChooseGentle when it comes to the products they use on their children has come to launching the House of Gentle which served as a reminder to parents where being gentle can begin — and that is nowhere else but at home.

Last August 13, 2019, momfluencers and mombassadors present at the event were treated to activities and talks from expert resource persons and celebrities who are also fellow parents. They were so enjoyable that everyone felt so ‘at home’ at the New Johnson’s House of Gentle.

Ms. Mai-Mai Punzalan, Southeast Asia Johnson’s Baby Marketing Director giving the opening remarks to kick off the event.

At the beginning of the event, moms were grouped to go to different parts of the House of Gentle (Bedroom, Living Room and the Play Area) so that everyone can experience each of the rooms simultaneously.

1. BEDROOM

Moms were recommended to cultivate the practice of breathing whenever they feel or think that they’re about to lose it. Pause – breathe – then talk to your child in a much calmer way where you can possibly negotiate with her/him. After all, we don’t want to say or do things that we will soon regret, esp. to our children. Also, be mindful and CONSISTENT with your promise or what you have agreed on.

2. LIVING ROOM

Blooming preggo on her second child, Divine Lee-Go and Ms. Rhona Remo have talked on how to COMMUNICATE with our children through Positive Discipline.

When declining your child’s wants, always acknowledge their feelings. Try to offer alternatives so you can divert them. How you explain things to your child should be in a gentle way. This process might be difficult but is very rewarding.

3. PLAY AREA

Did you know that learning through play can build a strong parent-child CONNECTION and that in learning, children feel emotionally secure? That is what Teacher Mara Estuesta, Directress and owner of Mindbuilders Preschool, together with fellow celebrity parents, Bianca Gonzales-Intal and Paolo Valenciano have revealed at the Play Area.

As a result of their emotional security, our children can become trusting, more flexible and more optimistic when they grow up.

The speakers also shared some fun activities that both parents and children can enjoy such as baking, singing or even a simple walk in the park. Let us remember how much of a sponge the memory and brains of our children are that they can mirror whatever they see in what we do or say.

MY TAKEAWAYS

I love the fact that JOHNSON’S®️, one of those baby brands we’ve grown up to didn’t only make their products their gentlest formula yet, but also mindfully promotes to us, the millennial parents, on how important it is to #ChooseGentle when it comes to the parenting styles we apply to our children.

And that it all boils down to the 3C’s: CONSISTENCY, CONNECTION AND COMMUNICATION.
